Typically $9–$16 per square foot installed, so a 1,800 sq ft home runs roughly $16,000–$29,000 for a full re-side. Vinyl sits at the low end; fiber cement and engineered wood at the top. Most of our siding work is not a full re-side, though. Repairs, one damaged elevation, and trim-and-fascia replacement are quoted by the wall or by the foot, and on an older house that is often a few hundred to a few thousand dollars rather than tens of thousands. Can you repair one wall or replace a few rotten boards instead of re-siding the whole house?

Yes, and we would rather do that than sell you a re-side you do not need. Hail damage is usually on one or two elevations; rot on an older house is usually at the bottom courses, around windows, and along the fascia where a gutter leaked. We replace what is bad, flash it properly, and match the material as closely as it can be matched. The honest limit is matching: on a 30-year-old vinyl color or an original wood profile the patch may show, and sometimes re-siding one full elevation so the change lands at a corner is the cleaner answer. The wood trim and fascia on my 1950s house are rotting. Do I need new siding?

Usually not. On the brick and wood-sided homes across Blue Hills, Santa Fe, Waldo, and Independence Avenue, the walls are often fine and the rot is in the painted trim: fascia behind the gutters, soffits, window and door casings, and the bottom boards that sit close to the ground. We replace those pieces with rot-resistant trim or wrap them in aluminum, fix the gutter that caused it, and leave the siding alone. Some of those homes still have original asbestos-cement shingle siding; it is safe left in place, there are rules for removing it, and we will talk through repairing or covering it before anyone suggests tearing it off.

Does insurance cover hail-damaged siding?

Often, when it is a covered storm event and the damage is clearly hail — cracked panels in a pattern on the storm-facing sides. Siding is usually part of the same claim as the roof and gutters. Two complications worth knowing. If your siding is discontinued and cannot be matched, policies handle that differently — some pay to re-side the damaged elevations, some the whole house, some only the panels — so check yours. We measure the roof, photograph every slope, count the shingle layers, check the attic and decking, and come back with a written line-item estimate — squares, underlayment, ice-and-water shield, flashing, ventilation, decking allowance, disposal, and warranty. No phone-quote guesses, no surprise add-ons after tear-off. When a repair is a realistic option, we price it next to the replacement so you can see both.

Roof repair: $350–$1,500 for most leaks, chimney flashing, pipe boots, and missing shingles — the right answer for a lot of older roofs.
Roof replacement: $9,000–$18,000 for architectural asphalt shingles on a typical 2,000 sq ft home. A small one-story house with a simple roofline usually lands at the low end or under it; a steep two-story lands at the top.

For inspections after a hail or wind event, most metro homeowners are scheduled within a few days; during a major regional storm the queue gets longer and we work it in the order requests come in, with water-coming-in first.

Two things speed everything up: photos of any visible damage sent with your request, and your policy declarations page so we know whether it's an ACV or RCV policy before we meet the adjuster.
